This was 2 weeks before I packed up and moved to regional Victoria, so it was a special way to part from the city.

Why do a self-love photoshoot? ⬇️

…

We have all found ourselves sometimes falling into a little bit of a monotonous loop every now and again. We get into patterns and rhythms of *life* and before we know it… it feels like we’ve missed a whole month, or even a year.

It’s not easy to find an opportunity that pushes the “reset” button. And when these opportunities show, you’ve got to jump on them before they disappear.

So I imagine this…

You decide to invest in an hour to stop and connect with yourself again. An hour where you can create something that’s just for you. Not for anybody else. An hour to spend thinking about how far you’ve come, and how many exciting things lie ahead of you.

In this hour you can be playful, pensive, adventurous, vulnerable, flirty, solemn, or bold. Or you can be everything all at once. You just have to be yourself. And whoever you are, will be authentically captured in photographs that tell your story.

Perhaps on particularly harder days. Whether it is weeks, years, or even decades in the future, you look back at these photos - and remember. Remember that you are a person of multitudes, a person with a unique story that no one else will ever experience. You know how love, appreciation, confidence, and self-assurance feels, because in those photos, you can see that you have felt it all before. And hopefully, on those not-so-great days, you can let yourself feel it all over again.

That is what a self-love photoshoot is for.

So far the most heartfelt and wild photoshoot of this year. I was absolutely blessed to do it with this goddess of a woman…

Two hours of giggles running around the grassy clifftops, soaking up the gorgeous sunset, finding quietness in some precious memories, and hiking down the beach trail to get a little risqué in the waves (those photos will remain under lock and key 🤭)

And I can’t forget mentioning @_lauren_lamb’s pinky toe, who decided for us that the night was over by ramming itself into a rock and breaking 🫠

Will never stop apologising even though she claims it was worth it for the photos! 🥹

When the opportunity to do a maternity shoot with my beautiful friend came around, I knew it was never going to be a typical session.

Not only is she an incredible mum-to-be, but also one of the most stylish people I know. From the get-go, I wanted to make sure their photoshoot had to reflect her unique style and creativity.

I just know that their little bubba is gonna have the best combination of genes with these two as parents, and even from birth is going to be bursting with a colourful and creative mind that most would be jealous of 🤭

If you ever wanted to know where my love for creativity comes from… look no further than this beautiful woman.

I started photographing this year with my mum’s camera (an albeit old, but tried and true Canon 60D). And whilst I may have upgraded it since, I won’t forget how quick she was to shove it in my arms and tell me to get stuck into photography.

I’ve taken a few side quests in my life, with all the crazy ideas I can come up with, but she has never once told me that it wouldn’t work out. There has only ever been love and support.

These photos show only a smidgen of how genuine and kind the soul is that raised me 🤍

Maybe it’s your favorite keepsake or a hobby that makes you smile, or even using the location as a prop and interacting with the space around you. Any of these can bring out the ‘you’ in every shot.

It’s halfway through the year, and my favourite part has absolutely been this creative adventure that I dove headfirst into.

If we haven’t met before… hey there! I’m Breanna Dioguardi, a photographer from Melbourne’s east, but will travel anywhere for an inspiring shoot idea. I adore dogs (in particular my fluffy buddy Beaudie), native wildlife and flowers, and sitting by a wood-fire crocheting for hours on end.

My goals this year have been to capture beautiful memories for others, and as a bonus, the process has helped me create my own. I want to be able to tell an intricate story of people’s lives and connections through authentic moments, big and small. Gentle touches, loving gazes, tightly held hands, uncontainable giggles, and warm embraces.

Not sure how someone is supposed to be able to capture your love story within photos?

That’s where my pre-shoot experience comes in! I will always send out a questionnaire to get to know you better, and so that you can tell me all the things, big and small, that sum up your relationship.

For Jen and Sam, they had shared the songs that represent their story, including songs from which Jen had hand-embroidered the lyrics from, onto her own wedding veil in 2021.

Then, on the day, they told me how their straight-out-of-lockdown wedding meant they never really got a proper first dance. So, I asked them to take a minute and imagine that dance right then and there. They fell into a little bubble immediately, holding each other close, and I simply had the honour of admiring their moment from afar (and snapping a few pics of it too)🥰

Raining on the day of your shoot?… Perfect!

After the @gallerylanemagazine workshop this weekend, hosted by @shangriff_photography and @cedar__photography, I can safely say I might be doing a rain dance or two for some of my shoots 🌧️

@brookerachelphotography and her hubby Jake, were so incredible to work with, not only for their readiness to be drenched in the middle of winter, but for their stunning ability to express their love and connection in front of a group of inspired photographers clicking away like paparazzi!

I will definitely be adding this location to my books, anyone interested? 😘
